Coins from Central Europe
Central Europe is the region comprising the central part of Europe. It covers what is now Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and parts of Poland.

Central Europe was not a meaningful ethnic or political region during antiquity; as such the concept is more defined by 'otherness' to the more advanced civilizations of Rome, Greece, and the other literate cultures of the age.

In more modern times, Central Europe was characterized first by Roman catholicism, and later by the Holy Roman Empire.
