Siscia — A settlement in Pannonia
Siscia was the chief town and colony in Pannonia, and was located where the Colapis and Savus met.

It was from the first outset a strongly fortified town; and after its capture by Tiberius, during the reign of Augustus, it became one of the most important places of Pannonia, both as an economic centre and as the central point from which Augustus and Tiberius carried on the conquest of the Pannonians and Illyrians.

The town contained an imperial mint, which produced coins under a series of emperors between 262 and 383 AD.

Modern location: Sisak, Croatia

“A bull is depicted with a small star between the horns, and a larger star above its shoulder. In the spring of 360, Julian's troops rose in revolt against Constantius, and proclaimed Julian II as Augustus. The depiction of the bull is fairly well understood. Julian II often slaughtered bulls to Mars, the Roman god of war.

But what do the stars represent? On 4 May 360, Venus joined Mars to form a single bright object between the horns of Taurus (the Bull) as the constellation set in the western sky. Two weeks earlier, Mars was between the horns, and the brighter planet, Venus, rested on the the bull's shoulder . There can be little doubt that Julian saw this planetary conjunction as an omen for his victory and showed it on his coins“

Licinius I (c. 263 – 325 AD) was a Roman emperor from 308 to 324. For most of his reign he was the colleague and rival of Constantine I, with whom he co-authored the Edict of Milan that granted official toleration to Christians in the Roman Empire. He was finally defeated at the Battle of Chrysopolis, 18 September 324 AD, and was later executed on the orders of Constantine I.
