Coins from Recovery Period
When Aurelian became emperor in 270 AD, the Roman Empire was but a shadow of its former glory. Barbarian invasions were rampant, and both the eastern and western parts of the Empire had declared independence.

But in 273 AD, Aurelian first defeated the Palmyrene Empire in the East - and the following year the Gallic Empire in the west. He also defeated the Goths, the Allemanni, the Vandals, the Juthungi, the Sarmatians, and the Carpi.

His efforts were the culmination of a herculean effort begun by Claudius II Gothicus only a few years before, which constituted a recovery period following the total economic and military collapse during the first half of the 3rd Century.

This category covers coins from the reign of Claudius II Gothicus and until the Tetrarchy in 293 AD.

Mediolanum (Tarraco according Märkl) issue 1, c. end 270 - early 271 AD Märkl states in his work "The Imperial Mints during the Reign of Claudius II. Gothicus and their Issues" that RIC attribute these coins wrongly to Milan (or Gallic mint) but they are in fact from Tarraco. No two mints in empire were allowed to strike same issue. Tarraco mint should have made "DIVO CLAVDIO GOTHICO" but this coin has only short (Siscian) legend: "DIVO CLAVDIO". Two known exemplars with short legend are mentioned by Märkl.

The head on the figure of Aeternitas appears to be animal-like, whether this is by accident or deliberate is up for debate! Some have suggested it may reflect the personal religious standing of the engraver (perhaps it is Roman-Egyptian hybrid; some have suggested the head looks remarkably like Anubis). A week before I bought the coin the following discussion appeared online: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/fascinating.314418/ Whatever the story behind it, there are few, if any, coins of Florian like this one out there.
