Phoenicians were Semitic-speaking people originating from the Levant specifically from modern-day Lebanon. They emerged from a turmoil of Bronze age collapse. As most of their cities were spared from destruction, they could fill power vacuum of dark age and estabilish trading routs through and even outside of Mediterranen Sea.
Phoenicians developed the first real alphabet which they brought to the cultures they traded with so eventually the whole world except far east is using child systems of Phoenician alphabet today.
